Comar R450-XE AIS Receiver Network Connectivity

The R450-XE outputs AIS data as NMEA 0183 VDM messages via Ethernet and USB. The Ethernet interface uses the Lantronix XPort module and supports TCP/IP and UDP/IP communications for integration into local AIS networks, PCs, servers and monitoring platforms.

Unlike the R450-X, the R450-XE does not include a WiFi module. This makes it a practical choice for fixed professional installations where wired network infrastructure is required.

Installation Notes

The Comar R450-XE is designed for protected internal installation and should be mounted on a flat surface close to power, Ethernet and antenna connections. It requires connection to a suitable AIS or marine VHF antenna tuned around 162 MHz using good-quality 50Ω coaxial cable.

For best AIS range, mount the AIS antenna as high as practical with clear line of sight to the horizon. For installation guidance, see our AIS antenna mounting guide.
