Description
Cristec LIP12-100-BMS lithium marine battery
Cristec LIP12-100-BMS is the 12V/100Ah lithium battery configuration listed in the Cristec range. Battery replacement or upgrade should be planned as a complete DC-system job: nominal voltage, usable capacity, charging sources, battery-management requirements, cable sizes, circuit protection, isolation, mounting and the loads connected to the bank all need to be checked before installation.

Matching capacity and system voltage
The first checks are the vessel’s nominal DC voltage and the capacity required for the intended duty. Record the existing bank arrangement and identify which loads it supplies. A lithium bank should not be selected simply by matching the Ah figure printed on an older battery. Review expected continuous and peak loads, charging current, operating time and the space available. If batteries are to be connected in a larger bank, use only combinations permitted by the current Cristec documentation and keep cable lengths and connections consistent with the approved arrangement.
Charging sources and battery compatibility
Every charging source connected to the bank needs to be compatible with the battery system. This can include shore chargers, alternators, DC-DC chargers, solar controllers and other onboard power equipment. Confirm the charging profile and voltage limits rather than assuming settings used for a previous lead-acid bank are suitable. Where battery-management communication, remote monitoring or protective control is required, follow the manufacturer wiring and configuration instructions for the exact model and the equipment connected to it.
Cabling, fusing and isolation
Battery conductors must be sized for current, length and acceptable voltage drop and must be protected against short circuit in accordance with the vessel installation. Inspect main isolators, fuses, busbars, lugs and cable condition when changing the bank. High-current connections should be clean, secure and mechanically supported. A new battery installed on corroded, overheated or undersized cabling can create poor performance and unnecessary risk. Keep positive and negative routes clear, labelled and accessible for later service.
Mounting and installation planning
Confirm the physical size, mounting orientation, restraint and environmental requirements in the current manual before modifying the battery space. Batteries must be secured against vessel movement and protected from water, heat and accidental damage. Consider service access to terminals, protection and any communication connections. If a lithium bank replaces a different battery technology, review the entire compartment and charging arrangement rather than treating the change as a like-for-like swap.
Commissioning the battery bank
Before connection, verify polarity and system voltage and confirm that all charging sources and loads are isolated as required. After installation, check terminal security, protection, resting voltage and charging behaviour. Bring charging sources online in a controlled way and confirm that the bank operates without alarms or unexpected protective action. Where monitoring is fitted, compare displayed values with independent measurements where practical. Record the battery model, capacity, connections, protection and charger settings for future maintenance.

Before ordering Cristec LIP12-100-BMS
Send F&C Marine the vessel type, nominal system voltage, existing battery chemistry and capacity, number of batteries, charger and alternator details, major DC loads, available battery-space dimensions and photographs of the present wiring. If this is a conversion to lithium, include the models of all charge sources. We can then help check the proposed configuration and installation requirements before a quotation is finalised.
