Description
Cristec YP024-30ST marine battery charger
Cristec YP024-30ST is a YPOWER marine battery charger in the 24 V range. A charger should be selected as part of the complete vessel DC system rather than from the model number alone. Battery-bank voltage and capacity, chemistry, AC supply, cable sizing, circuit protection, ventilation and connected banks all need to be checked. F&C Marine can help confirm that YP024-30ST is the correct Cristec charger before supply or replacement work.
Matching the charger to a 24 V bank
Record the nominal battery voltage, battery chemistry, total bank capacity and the way engine-start, domestic or auxiliary batteries are arranged. Check the existing charger’s outputs and connections rather than assuming the same wiring can be reused. Charging profiles and battery limits vary, particularly where vessels have been upgraded from conventional batteries to newer chemistries. The Cristec documentation and battery manufacturer’s recommendations should both be considered when configuring the final charging system.
AC input and DC cable installation
Inspect the AC supply, isolation and protective devices serving the charger and confirm they are suitable for the equipment being installed. On the DC side, conductor size needs to account for current, cable length and acceptable voltage drop. Terminations should be secure and protected from accidental short circuit. Reusing an old cable can be sensible only when its size, insulation, route and condition are appropriate. Corroded or heat-damaged lugs should be replaced rather than incorporated into the new installation.
Mounting and ventilation
Install the charger in a dry, protected location with the clearances and ventilation required by Cristec. Avoid excessive heat, water exposure and spaces where airflow is blocked by stored equipment or other electronics. Leave access to terminals, fuses and indicators. Before using the previous mounting holes, compare the enclosure dimensions and cable-entry positions. Heavy DC conductors should be supported so their weight and vibration do not place unnecessary strain on the charger terminals.
Commissioning and charging checks
Confirm polarity and wiring before energising the charger. Verify the actual battery voltage, any selectable battery profile and charging status. Measure voltage at the charger and battery where appropriate and check for excessive drop in the DC path. If the installation uses multiple output banks, confirm each intended connection. Observe the charger long enough to ensure there are no alarms or abnormal heating, and record the final settings so later battery replacements can be checked against the existing charger configuration.
Fault finding before changing the charger
Poor battery condition does not prove a charger fault. Check the AC feed, fuses or breakers, isolation switches, DC connections and battery condition first. High-resistance terminals, weak batteries or an intermittent shore supply can produce symptoms that appear to be caused by the charger. If the old unit shows an alarm, record it before disconnecting equipment. Measurements taken before the system is disturbed can save time and prevent a new charger being fitted while the original vessel fault remains.
Documentation and related support
For manufacturer information, see Cristec battery chargers. Current Cristec instructions should be the final reference for input supply, protection, cable size, mounting clearances and battery profiles. F&C Marine also provides a Marine Electronics Knowledge Base covering wider vessel-electrical and marine-electronics installation topics.

Before ordering Cristec YP024-30ST
Send the vessel type, existing charger model, battery voltage, chemistry and capacity, photographs of the battery and charger connections, AC supply details and approximate DC cable lengths. If this is a fault replacement, include symptoms, alarms and previous tests. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether Cristec YP024-30ST suits the installation, identify any wiring or mounting changes and check current availability before quotation.
