Description
Cristec YP036-20STPL marine battery charger
Cristec YP036-20STPL is a YPOWER+ marine battery charger in the 36 V range. Higher-voltage vessel DC systems need careful matching of the charger, battery bank, cables, protection and connected equipment. F&C Marine can help confirm the battery chemistry and capacity, AC feed, DC conductor sizing, mounting and charger configuration before YP036-20STPL is supplied or used as a replacement.
Matching a 36 V battery bank
Record the nominal battery voltage, chemistry, capacity and bank arrangement before selecting the charger. Check the existing charger’s model and output wiring and confirm whether the vessel has any series-connected battery groups or equipment that depends on a specific charging arrangement. If batteries have been changed since the original installation, review the charging profile rather than assuming the previous settings remain suitable. Use current Cristec and battery-manufacturer documentation when configuring the system.
AC supply and DC conductors
Inspect the AC supply and its isolation and protective devices. On the 36 V DC side, cable size still needs to account for current, route length and acceptable voltage drop. Terminations should be secure, clean and protected from accidental short circuit. Existing cable should only be reused after its rating and condition are checked. Corroded lugs, heat-damaged insulation or previous modifications should be corrected as part of the replacement rather than transferred to the new charger.
Mounting, cooling and service access
Install the charger in a dry, protected position with the ventilation and clearances specified by Cristec. Avoid direct water exposure, high-temperature spaces and areas where airflow can be blocked. Leave access to terminals, indicators and protective devices. Compare dimensions and cable-entry locations with the existing charger before modifying the mounting panel. Support larger DC conductors so vibration and cable weight do not place mechanical load on the charger’s terminals.
Commissioning the charger
Before energising, verify polarity, cable security and protective-device ratings. Confirm the actual bank voltage and selected battery profile, then monitor charging status and alarms. Measure voltage at the charger and the battery as appropriate to identify excessive drop. If the system has multiple banks or outputs, verify each intended connection. Record the final wiring and settings because later battery replacement or system modification must be assessed against the installed charger configuration.
Fault finding before replacement
A charging problem can originate from the AC feed, DC protection, isolation switches, wiring or batteries rather than the charger itself. Check each stage and record alarms or measurements before disconnecting the old unit. An intermittent connection may temporarily recover when cables are moved. Battery imbalance in a series bank can also produce misleading symptoms, so individual battery condition should be considered where applicable. Good pre-removal evidence makes the final diagnosis more reliable.
Documentation and related support
See Cristec battery chargers for manufacturer information. Use the current YPOWER+ documentation as the final reference for input supply, charging profiles, cable sizes, protection and mounting. F&C Marine also provides a Marine Electronics Knowledge Base covering wider vessel electrical and marine-electronics topics.

Before ordering Cristec YP036-20STPL
Send the vessel type, current charger model, 36 V battery-bank details, chemistry and capacity, photographs of the charger and batteries, AC supply information and approximate DC cable lengths. If this is a fault replacement, include symptoms, alarms and tests already completed. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether Cristec YP036-20STPL is suitable and identify any installation changes before quotation.
