Description
Cristec YP048-15STPL marine battery charger
Cristec YP048-15STPL is a YPOWER+ marine battery charger in the 48 V range. Higher-voltage DC installations require careful matching of the charger, battery bank, protection and connected equipment. Battery chemistry and capacity, AC supply, DC cable sizing, ventilation and the existing charging arrangement all need to be checked. F&C Marine can help confirm whether YP048-15STPL is the correct Cristec model before supply.
Matching a 48 V battery bank
Identify the nominal battery voltage, chemistry, capacity and bank arrangement before choosing the charger. Record the existing charger and wiring and determine whether the bank uses series-connected batteries or another configuration that requires individual checks. If the battery type has changed since the original installation, confirm the charging profile against current battery-manufacturer limits. Use the Cristec documentation when setting or commissioning the charger rather than carrying old settings over automatically.
AC supply and DC wiring
Inspect the AC feed and the relevant isolation and protective devices. The 48 V DC conductors must still be sized for current, length and acceptable voltage drop. Terminations should be clean, secure and protected from accidental contact or short circuit. Reuse existing wiring only when its rating, insulation and route are suitable. Corroded lugs or heat-damaged cable can limit charger performance and should be corrected before the new unit is commissioned.
Mounting and ventilation
Choose a dry, protected position with the clearances and airflow specified by Cristec. Avoid spaces exposed to water, excessive heat or blocked ventilation. Leave sufficient access to terminals, fuses, indicators and communication connections. If replacing an older charger, compare dimensions and cable-entry points before drilling or modifying the mounting surface. Support heavier DC cables so their weight and vibration do not load the charger terminals.
Commissioning and charging checks
Confirm polarity and cable security before energising the charger. Verify the actual 48 V bank arrangement, selected battery profile and charging status. Measure voltage at the charger and battery where appropriate and check for excessive drop in the DC path. Observe the unit for alarms or abnormal behaviour under realistic charging conditions. Record the final settings, cable information and battery details so future battery replacements can be evaluated against the charger configuration.
Fault finding before replacement
A poorly charged 48 V bank may have an AC supply, DC protection, connection or battery fault rather than a failed charger. Check each part of the system before removing the old unit. Individual batteries in a series arrangement can become unbalanced or weak and create symptoms that appear at the complete bank level. Record alarm messages and measurements while the fault is present where practical; moving cables during replacement can temporarily mask an intermittent problem.
Documentation and related support
For current manufacturer information, see Cristec battery chargers. Current Cristec instructions should be the final reference for input supply, battery profiles, protection, cable size and mounting. F&C Marine also provides a Marine Electronics Knowledge Base covering wider vessel electrical and electronics installation topics.

Before ordering Cristec YP048-15STPL
Send the vessel type, current charger model, 48 V battery-bank details, chemistry and capacity, photographs of charger and battery connections, AC supply information and approximate DC cable lengths. If replacing a fault, include symptoms, alarms and tests already completed. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether Cristec YP048-15STPL is correctly matched, identify any installation changes and check current availability before quotation.
