Cable and connector checks
Confirm the cable type, connector combination, cable length and the equipment at both ends of the run before ordering. For RF cables, frequency, cable loss and connector quality matter; for data or programming leads, the exact interface and equipment generation should be checked. Existing cable routing and gland requirements may also affect the installation.
Cable assemblies should be checked end-to-end before ordering: equipment model, connector gender and type, cable length and routing all matter. For RF work, avoid unnecessary length and confirm that the selected cable is appropriate for the operating frequency.
Ordering and support
When requesting a compatibility check, provide the model and part number from the existing equipment together with photographs of labels, connectors and the surrounding installation where possible. This is particularly useful on older or discontinued marine electronics where several hardware revisions may share a similar product name. F&C Marine can use that information to help identify the correct replacement, accessory or installation approach.
For supply enquiries, quote the exact product title together with any model, serial or part numbers shown on the existing equipment. If the item is being fitted into an existing installation, also confirm the vessel or system details and the required supply, programming or installation scope. This helps reduce the risk of selecting a mechanically similar but incompatible component.
