Description
LCJ CV7-C-STBG ultrasonic wind sensor
LCJ CV7-C-STBG is a CV7-C ultrasonic wind-sensor configuration using the STBG interface arrangement for compatible Raymarine and B&G wind systems. Exact instrument compatibility should be checked before ordering because marine installations often contain mixed generations of displays, servers and converters. F&C Marine can help identify the existing equipment and confirm whether CV7-C-STBG is the correct replacement arrangement.
Ultrasonic wind measurement
The CV7 family measures wind speed and direction electronically without conventional rotating cups or a mechanical vane. This removes moving measuring parts, but performance still depends on clean airflow. The sensor should be positioned where nearby aerials, masts, rigging and structures have the least practical influence. Correct alignment is important for wind direction, and the mounting needs to remain rigid enough that the sensor orientation cannot change in service.
STBG interface compatibility
The STBG version is intended for specified compatible Raymarine and B&G wind equipment. Before ordering, record the exact display, server or instrument model rather than relying on the brand name. Previous refits may have introduced converters or non-standard wiring that changes what is required. Photographs of the existing connections and labels are useful. Confirming the entire signal path before supply reduces the risk of selecting a wind sensor that does not match the vessel instruments.
Mounting, cable and power
Inspect the existing mount and cable route before installation. Protect wiring from water ingress, sharp edges, chafe, crushing and excessive strain. Confirm the available supply and the interface wiring for the receiving system. If replacing an old sensor, label and photograph connections before removal. A damaged cable or corroded junction can remain a fault after the new sensor is fitted, so reusing existing wiring should be a considered decision rather than an assumption.
Commissioning the wind system
After installation, verify plausible wind speed and direction on the connected instruments. Check physical sensor orientation and any required calibration or offset in accordance with the manufacturer documentation. If wind information is distributed to several displays, compare the values. Test with other vessel systems operating and investigate intermittent or missing data before handover. Record the sensor, interface, cable and receiving instrument models for future service.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
Inspect the sensor body, mounting, exposed cable and accessible connections for contamination, damage, corrosion or moisture. If data becomes intermittent, check power, STBG interface wiring and receiving equipment before assuming the sensor has failed. A fault that affects only one display is more likely to lie in that receiving path. Keeping a clear record of the fitted CV7 variant makes future diagnosis quicker and reduces the chance of ordering the wrong replacement.

Before ordering LCJ CV7-C-STBG
Send the vessel type, exact Raymarine or B&G instrument models, photographs of the current wind sensor and display connections, cable-route information and details of any interface units already fitted. If this is a fault replacement, include symptoms and previous tests. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether LCJ CV7-C-STBG is the correct version and identify any mounting or installation work required before quotation.
