Description
LCJ CV7-HR-OEM ultrasonic wind sensor
LCJ CV7-HR-OEM is a specialist CV7-series ultrasonic wind-sensor configuration intended for integration where the exact OEM interface and system requirements need to be confirmed before supply. Because this is not a generic drop-in replacement, the receiving equipment, power, wiring, mounting and required data need to be identified as part of the specification. F&C Marine can help establish those requirements before the sensor is ordered.
Ultrasonic wind measurement
The CV7 family measures airflow electronically without conventional rotating cups or a vane. This removes moving measuring parts, but good installation remains essential. The sensor needs clean airflow and correct physical orientation. Nearby structures, masts, rigging, aerials and other equipment can disturb the wind and introduce errors. For an OEM installation, the mechanical design should provide a rigid mounting point while keeping the measuring area as clear as practical.
OEM interface planning
The HR-OEM version should be matched to the equipment that will receive its data rather than selected only by family name. Identify the host system, required data format, update requirement, power arrangement and connector or cable interface. If the sensor is replacing an existing OEM installation, obtain the old model reference, wiring details and any available system documentation. Avoid assuming that a different CV7 variant is electrically interchangeable even if the sensor body appears similar.
Mounting, power and cable routing
Plan the mechanical mounting and cable route before installation. Protect wiring from chafe, sharp edges, crushing, heat and water ingress, and keep connectors accessible where practical. Confirm the power source and circuit protection for the intended equipment. In a custom or OEM system, label each connection clearly and record the wiring because future engineers may not have a standard vessel schematic available. Photographs before and after installation are useful additions to the service record.
Commissioning and data verification
After fitting, verify that the host system receives plausible wind speed and direction and that the sensor orientation matches the reference expected by the software or instrument. Check operation throughout the range of normal system states and, where applicable, confirm data at every destination. If the installation uses converters or intermediate interfaces, test at each stage. Resolve intermittent data before handover and record the final configuration, including any software setting or offset used.
Maintenance and fault finding
Routine inspection should cover the sensor, mounting, exposed cable and accessible connectors. Look for contamination, physical damage, corrosion and moisture. If wind data becomes unreliable, test the supply and data path before replacing the sensor. In an OEM installation, software or interface changes can also affect data interpretation, so compare the current configuration with the commissioning record. A systematic source-to-destination check is usually more useful than substituting components at random.

Before ordering LCJ CV7-HR-OEM
Send the intended application, host equipment, required wind data, supply voltage, photographs or drawings of the mounting position, cable-route information and any existing sensor or interface details. If the product is replacing a fault, include symptoms and tests already completed. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether LCJ CV7-HR-OEM is the correct specialist configuration and identify the information still needed before quotation.
