Description
LCJ CV7-RM-STBG rotating mast wind system
LCJ CV7-RM-STBG combines a CV7 ultrasonic wind-sensor arrangement with the STBG rotating-mast interface for compatible Raymarine and B&G instrument systems. The system is intended for installations where mast rotation must be taken into account when presenting wind direction. F&C Marine can help check the masthead sensor, mast-angle source, interface and existing instruments before supply.
Ultrasonic wind measurement on a rotating mast
The CV7 measures wind without conventional rotating cups or a mechanical vane, but the sensor is still physically referenced to the mast. When the mast rotates, the relationship between sensor direction and vessel centreline changes. The rotating-mast interface therefore needs suitable mast-angle information so the final wind direction can be corrected. Sensor position should also provide clean airflow, with nearby rigging, aerials and mast hardware having the least practical influence.
STBG instrument integration
The STBG arrangement is intended for specified compatible Raymarine and B&G equipment. Record the exact display, server and wind-instrument models before ordering. If the vessel already has a rotating-mast interface or angle sensor, photograph the equipment and wiring. Older systems may contain converters or modifications that are not obvious from the bridge display alone, and confirming those details early can avoid choosing the wrong interface version.
Mast angle, power and cable routing
Reliable corrected wind data depends on the wind sensor, mast-angle source and interface all operating correctly. The mast-angle reference must be installed and calibrated according to the applicable documentation. Protect power and data wiring from chafe, movement and water ingress, and inspect connections exposed to repeated mast or deck movement. Label the signal paths so future service can distinguish wind data, mast-angle data and the corrected output to the instrument system.
Commissioning corrected wind information
After fitting, verify wind speed and corrected direction through a useful range of mast positions. Compare physical mast angle with the value used by the interface and check the displayed wind direction for consistency. Where possible, test during realistic sailing conditions rather than only at the dock. If several instruments use the corrected data, compare them. Record the sensor orientation, zero reference, interface and calibration settings for future maintenance.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
If wind direction becomes inaccurate, test the system in stages: masthead sensor, mast-angle source, interface power and wiring, then the receiving instruments. A failed angle source can make a healthy CV7 appear faulty. Inspect the sensor and mounting for contamination or damage and examine exposed cables for wear. Rotating-mast systems benefit particularly from clear commissioning records because several separate components contribute to the displayed result.

Before ordering LCJ CV7-RM-STBG
Send the vessel type, rotating-mast details, current wind sensor, mast-angle equipment, exact Raymarine or B&G instrument models, photographs and wiring information. If replacing a fault, include the symptoms and tests already completed. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether LCJ CV7-RM-STBG is the correct configuration and identify any additional interface or installation requirements before quotation.
