Description
LCJ CV7-V-RM-STBG rotating mast wind system
LCJ CV7-V-RM-STBG combines the vertical CV7 ultrasonic wind-sensor arrangement with an STBG rotating-mast interface for compatible Raymarine and B&G instruments. It is intended where mast rotation must be corrected before wind direction is presented to the vessel. F&C Marine can help confirm the vertical sensor mounting, mast-angle source, interface and existing instruments before supply.
Vertical ultrasonic sensor on a rotating mast
The CV7 measures wind electronically without conventional rotating cups or a vane, but the sensor’s directional reference still follows the mast. As the mast rotates, the interface needs accurate mast-angle information to correct the wind direction back to the vessel reference. The vertical mounting must also provide clean airflow and secure alignment. Nearby aerials, rigging and mast hardware should have the least practical influence on the sensor.
STBG instrument compatibility
The STBG interface is intended for specified compatible Raymarine and B&G wind systems. Record exact instrument, server and display models before ordering. Photograph any existing converter or rotating-mast interface and the wiring around it. Previous refits can leave mixed-generation instruments or undocumented modifications, so confirming the full signal path is important before selecting a replacement system.
Mast-angle, power and cabling
The mast-angle source, CV7-V sensor and interface all need reliable power and correctly routed data. Any angle sensor should be installed and calibrated according to the applicable documentation. Protect cables from movement, chafe and water ingress and pay particular attention to areas where mast rotation creates repeated mechanical stress. Label each connection so future service can distinguish raw wind information, mast-angle data and corrected wind output.
Commissioning through mast movement
After installation, verify wind speed and corrected direction through a useful range of mast positions. Compare physical mast angle with the value used by the system and check that displayed direction remains consistent as the mast moves. Where possible, test under realistic sailing conditions. Compare readings on all connected displays and record the sensor orientation, mast zero reference, interface model and calibration settings for later maintenance.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
When corrected wind data is wrong, test the system stage by stage rather than replacing the masthead sensor immediately. Check the CV7-V sensor, mast-angle source, interface power and wiring and receiving instruments. A faulty angle sensor can make a healthy wind sensor appear inaccurate. Inspect exposed cable around moving areas for wear and keep commissioning records available so any change in zero reference or configuration can be identified.
Documentation and related guidance
See LCJ Capteurs products and LCJ support downloads. Use current LCJ documentation as the final reference for CV7-V rotating-mast and STBG configuration. F&C Marine also provides an ultrasonic wind-sensor guide and the Marine Electronics Knowledge Base.

Before ordering LCJ CV7-V-RM-STBG
Send the vessel type, vertical masthead mounting details, rotating-mast arrangement, current wind sensor, mast-angle equipment, exact Raymarine or B&G instrument models, photographs and wiring information. If replacing a fault, include symptoms and previous tests. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether LCJ CV7-V-RM-STBG is correct and identify any additional installation requirements.
