Description
LCJ CV7-V-STBG ultrasonic wind sensor
LCJ CV7-V-STBG is a vertical-masthead CV7 ultrasonic wind-sensor configuration with the STBG interface arrangement for compatible Raymarine and B&G wind systems. The exact interface version matters because vessels can contain different generations of displays, servers and converters. F&C Marine can help identify the existing equipment and confirm whether this CV7-V-STBG arrangement is the right replacement before supply.
Ultrasonic wind measurement
The CV7 sensor measures airflow without conventional rotating cups or a mechanical vane. Removing moving measuring parts can reduce bearing-related maintenance, but accurate wind data still depends on good sensor location. Nearby mast fittings, aerials, rigging and other structures can disturb airflow. The vertical masthead mounting should be rigid and correctly aligned, and the chosen position should minimise local turbulence around the sensor.
STBG instrument compatibility
The STBG arrangement is intended for specified compatible Raymarine and B&G systems. Before ordering, record the exact model numbers of the existing wind displays, servers or instrument interfaces. Brand name alone is not enough because older vessels often contain mixed generations of equipment or converters added during previous refits. Photographs of the existing wiring and instrument labels can help establish whether the vessel matches the intended interface arrangement.
Mounting, cable and power
Inspect the vertical masthead bracket and cable route before fitting. Protect wiring from chafe, sharp edges, crushing and water ingress, particularly at mast and deck penetrations. Check any existing cable or junction point for corrosion before reuse. Confirm the available power supply and the way the STBG interface is connected. Label and photograph the existing wiring before removal so the new sensor can be commissioned methodically rather than relying on undocumented connections.
Commissioning the wind system
After installation, verify plausible wind speed and direction on the connected Raymarine or B&G instruments. Check physical sensor orientation and any calibration or offset required by the receiving system. If wind data is distributed to several displays, compare the readings at each location. Test with other bridge electronics operating and investigate any intermittent data before handover. Record the final sensor, interface and cable arrangement for future maintenance.
Maintenance and fault finding
Inspect the sensor, mount, exposed cable and accessible connectors for contamination, physical damage, corrosion and moisture. If readings become intermittent, test power, interface wiring and the receiving instruments before assuming the masthead sensor has failed. A damaged mast cable or poor connection at an older instrument can produce the same symptoms. If only one display is affected, investigate that receiving path before changing the sensor.
Documentation and related guidance
See LCJ Capteurs products and LCJ support downloads for manufacturer information. Use current LCJ documentation as the final reference for STBG compatibility, vertical mounting and wiring. F&C Marine also provides an ultrasonic wind-sensor guide and the Marine Electronics Knowledge Base.

Before ordering LCJ CV7-V-STBG
Send the vessel type, exact Raymarine or B&G instrument models, photographs of the masthead sensor and display connections, cable-route information and details of any converter or interface currently fitted. If this is a fault replacement, include symptoms and previous tests. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether LCJ CV7-V-STBG is the correct version and identify any mounting or installation work required.
