Description

LCJ CV7SF2-USB wireless ultrasonic wind sensor

LCJ CV7SF2-USB is a CV7SF2 wireless solar ultrasonic wind-sensor configuration with USB-oriented receiver or data integration for compatible computer-based applications. The installation needs the masthead sensor, solar exposure, wireless path, receiver, host computer and software requirements to be considered together. F&C Marine can help check the intended application and confirm the system arrangement before supply.

Wireless ultrasonic measurement

The CV7SF2 sensor measures wind without conventional rotating cups or a mechanical vane. The wireless arrangement removes the need for a standard sensor data cable down the mast, but accurate readings still depend on clear airflow and correct orientation. Position the sensor away from unnecessary turbulence caused by rigging, aerials and structures, and consider solar exposure and the wireless path when selecting the final mounting location.

USB and computer integration

Before ordering the USB version, identify the computer, operating environment and application that will receive the wind data. Check the manufacturer documentation for the required interface and software. A USB connection can simplify direct computer integration, but cable length, port availability, power and driver or application requirements still need to be considered. If the installation replaces an older data logger or computer interface, record the existing connections and software settings before removal.

Sensor and receiver installation

The masthead sensor needs a secure mounting point, while the wireless receiver should be located where communication is stable and it remains accessible for service. Avoid unnecessary obstructions between the sensor and receiver. Protect the computer-side cabling from damage and moisture. If equipment is installed in a bridge or control console, consider service access so the receiver or USB lead can be inspected without dismantling unrelated electronics.

Commissioning and data verification

After installation, verify stable wireless communication and confirm that the computer receives plausible wind speed and direction. Check physical sensor orientation and any software configuration required to interpret or log the data. Observe the system over a useful period rather than relying only on a short connection test. If the application logs wind information, confirm the recorded values and timestamps. Record the sensor, receiver and software configuration for future support.

Maintenance and troubleshooting

Inspect the masthead sensor, solar arrangement, mounting and receiver for damage or contamination. If data disappears, determine whether the fault is in the sensor, wireless link, receiver, USB connection, computer or software. Test each stage rather than replacing the sensor immediately. USB power management or software changes can affect a computer-based installation even when the masthead equipment remains healthy, so keep commissioning records and application settings available.

Documentation and related guidance

For manufacturer information, see LCJ Capteurs products and LCJ support downloads. Use current LCJ documentation as the final reference for receiver, USB interface and wireless setup. F&C Marine also provides an ultrasonic wind-sensor guide and the Marine Electronics Knowledge Base.

Before ordering LCJ CV7SF2-USB

Send the vessel or site type, proposed sensor and receiver locations, computer details, intended software or data use, photographs and any existing wind-system information. If replacing a fault, include symptoms and tests already completed. F&C Marine can then help confirm whether LCJ CV7SF2-USB is the correct wireless computer-interface configuration and identify the installation or compatibility points that need checking before quotation.
